Ruo (Alex) Jia is an Associate Professor of Insurance in the School of Economics, Peking University. He joined the Peking University in 2016, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019, and tenured in 2022. His research field is insurance economics, including insurtech, insurance institution and regulation, information asymmetry, and public-private partnership. He has published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, Geneva Risk and Insurance Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Economic Research Journal, among others. He is an Associate Editor of the European Journal of Finance and the Risk Management and Insurance Review, and serves in the Editorial Board of the Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance-Issues and Practice and the China Finance Review International. He is the Deputy Director of the China Center for Actuarial Science Development at the Peking University, and a consulting expert of the Insurance Solvency Expert Committee of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission. He obtained his Bachelor (2008) and Master (2010) degrees in Insurance from the Peking University and Ph.D. in Finance (2016) from the Institute of Insurance Economics (I.VW), University of St.Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland. He was a Casualty Underwriter in Swiss Reinsurance Company in 2013-2016 and promoted to Assistant Vice President.
